History

The story of Svenska Elektromagneter AB

Since it was founded in 1915, Svenska Elektromagneter – SEM – has played an active role in swedish industry. The SEM factory in Åmål delivered the very first ignition equipment to Thulinverken in Landskrona during World War I. The equipment was installed in the plane Tummelisa, which had its inaugural flight immediately following the war.

Reliability and quality were decisive factors behind the purchase and Svenska Elektromagneter was at that time the only company able to meet the demanding criteria.

SEM has retained its focus on electromagnetism and over long periods the company’s knowledge and products have been unique not only in Sweden but worldwide.
